Students may begin completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) beginning October 1st for the 2019-2020 academic year. Our 19-20 priority deadline is Friday, May 3, 2019, to ensure aid is awarded in time for the August 26, 2019, class start.

Below are the three initial items all applicants must complete to begin the financial aid process:

Step 1: The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA*) – All students must complete the FAFSA upon admission. The FAFSA must be completed online at www.fafsa.ed.gov . The SUM School Code is: 037524. A FSA User ID and Password must first be created to electronically sign the FAFSA. To obtain a FSA User ID visit https://fsaid.ed.gov/npas/index.htm

Step 2: Federal Student Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN) - All new students must complete the MPN upon admission. The MPN may be completed online at www.studentloans.gov.

Students and/or their parents are strongly encouraged to utilize the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT) within the FAFSA to import their Federal tax information. This will often prevent a student from being selected for verification that will require we collect a Federal tax transcript from the IRS.
